Nehou
Why you should be excited
Nehou is a French bittersweet cider variety that became popular in the UK due to its quality fruit and happy growing.
The story of Nehou
The northern French administrative regions of Brittany and Normandy are the source of some outstanding and distinctive cider and quite a few high-quality apple varieties used to make it.
Nehou is one of those, although folks in England learned about it more than a century ago, so it has been grown on both sides of the English Channel since then.
Its juice makes a fairly tannic and aromatic full-bodied cider of good character and fruitiness.
The tree grows well and starts producing big crops at a young age, although – like many cider varieties – it alternates between big and much smaller crops from year to year.
As interest in French cider varieties grows, we expect Nehou to become better known.
