Wellington Bloomless

Why you should be excited:

Wellington Bloomless is an eye-catching apple that's even more distinctive when it blooms -- without petals.

apple_wellingtonbloomless-2.jpgThe story of Wellington Bloomless:

Yes, Wellington Bloomless is a distinctive, old-style looking apple, with its rustic yellow colour and a strongly inverted-conical shape (meaning a big, fat top and skinny little bottom).

It's got a distinctive flavour as well, with a notably sweet, quite delicious taste to grab your attention.

But by far the most notable characteristic of the Wellington Bloomless is something you can only notice for a few weeks out of each year: it lives up to its name, sort of. Oh, it blooms all right. It's just that it does so without having any petals. Not one. Zero.

Yes, bare-naked blossoms are the order of the day for this apple. Truly a freak of nature.
