Why you should be excited:

Kim is a modern Swedish apple with excellent characteristics both for fresh eating and cooking.

apple_Kim_small.JPGThe story of Kim:

Kim -- a 1940s bred and 1970s introduced Swedish apple -- is not named after a person but rather spelled from the initials of its parents: Cortland (Kortland to Swedes) and Ingrid Marie.

It's one of those apple varieties that really does draw on the best attributes of its respected parents.

The result is a delicious apple that's crisp and juicy, working well for fresh eating while breaking down into a very nice puree when cooked. It's also a variety with better disease resistence than either parent.

Commercially successful in its homeland, Kim is an apple that might very well win over fans internationally, if they only give it a chance.

We're sure looking forward to trying it.
